Tiger Powerlifting won 1st place team last Saturday, February 8, at the invitational meet at Paul Pewitt High School in Omaha. And individually, senior, Jose Gonzalez, won the Best Heavyweight Lifter Award. Coach Blake Lodes said, “Our boys got after it! They pushed past their limits, hit PR’s, and they earned 1st place because of it!”

Individually, the Tigers earned five 1st place medals including Alex Perez, Luis Alvarado, Juymil Lewis, Bruno DeLeon, and Jose Gonzalez in their respective weight classes. Bryson Taylor placed 2nd in his weight class with Seth Robertson placing 3rd in his. Rounding out the medals were Damian Humberto and Justin Robertson in 4th place and Isaac Hernandez in 5th place in their respective weight classes.

The Tiger and Lady Tiger powerlifters are all accumulating points toward qualifying for the Regional meet in March. Both teams have Last Chance Qualifying meets between February 14-21. MPHS Powerlifting is coached by Don Woods and Blake Lodes.
