Lady Tigers Stomp Sulphur Springs to Open District, 73-25
The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers wasted no time in making a statement on Tuesday night with their district opening victory over the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Tigers jumped out to an 11-7 advantage before using a 12-0 run late in the second quarter to blow the game wide open. Mount Pleasant outscored Sulphur Springs 23-3 in the third quarter with relentless full court pressure that the Lady Wildcats didn’t have an answer for resulting in 41 turnovers.
Paris Beard picked a good time to have her best game of the season with 33 points and 8 steals. Aziyah Farrier notched her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Other scorers were Jordyn Hargrave and Conlee Zachry with 6 points apiece, Ella Cross 4 points, Kendall Walker and Citreauna Keeton with 3 points each, and Morgan Hill and Amiah Thornton with 2 points each.
The Lady Tigers (8-5, 1-0) will travel to Hallsville (6-10, 1-0) on Friday to take on the Lady Bobcats in another key district matchup. Hallsville defeated Longview by one last Tuesday.
