Congressman Nathaniel Moran visited with Mount Pleasant High School sophomores currently ranked in the top 10% of their class on Monday, March 23 to give them another option after high school, United States Military Academies. Moran attended West Point for two years and ultimately graduated from Texas Tech University. Because the application process for United States Military Academies is lengthy, requiring a nomination from a U.S. representative, senator, or vice president, a strong academic record, and a competitive score on the ACT or SAT, he stressed the importance of beginning the process now in their sophomore year. Moran also presented each of the students in attendance a special commemorative Challenge Coin as a lifelong reminder of their potential.
