MPHS Senior Medals at State Powerlifting Meet
The Mount Pleasant High School Lady Tiger Powerlifters traveled to the 5A Division II Texas High School state powerlifting meet during spring break. Five Lady Tigers competed in the Bert Ogden Area in Edinburg on March 21 and all five placed in the top 13 in their respective weight classes.
Senior Helen Munoz squatted 335 pounds, bench pressed 265 pounds, and deadlifted 300 pounds for a total of 900 pounds, earning her a 5th place state medal in her weight class. She was the Regional Champion earlier this month.
Also competing at state were junior Linnet Cueller who finished ninth in her weight class with a total of 770 pounds, senior Cambria Malone finishing 12th with a total of 550 pounds, junior Diana Ramirez placing 13th with a total of 545 pounds, and junior Monse Gonzalez finishing in 13th with a total of 740 pounds.
The State Meet rounds out the 2026 season for Lady Tiger Powerlifting. Tiger Powerlifting will travel to Abilene for their state meet this weekend, with the unequipped state meet on Friday, March 27 and the equipped state meet on Saturday, March 28. The Lady Tigers are coached by Don Woods, and the Tigers are coached by Blake Lodes.
