MPHS Cheerleaders Compete in UIL Spirit State Championships
The Mount Pleasant High School Cheerleaders competed in the UIL Spirit State Championships held on January 13 at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Competing in the Coed division for the first time in school history, MPHS Cheer finished in 13th place in the entire state of Texas.
Competing for Tiger Cheer were seniors Nevaeh Bardwell, Nic Chappell, Karigan Fox, Elizabeth Lockett, Jordan Neal, Katie Ochoa, Juliana Perez, Keller Thompson, Alex VanRijn, Anna Claire Wall, and Filippo Zunino; juniors Jillian Adair, Morgan Brooks, and Emily Shelton; sophomores Hannah Anderson Caroline Currey, Drew Dyke, Kennady Ebarb, Alexa Gamble, Abigail Gutierrez, Landon Pinckard, Allie Sloan, and Harrison Wall; and freshmen Kate Ball, Madison Hargrove, and Kit Thompson.
MPHS cheer will compete again on January 22 at the NCA High School Nationals in Dallas and will wrap up their competition season in February at the UCA High School Nationals in Orlando, Florida. The MPHS Cheerleaders are coached by Karissa Lopez and Shanta Lockett.
