Thirty-two members of the Mount Pleasant FFA attended the Paris District FFA Convention in Mount Vernon on January 13. Members listened to speeches and voted on the 2022-2023 District and Area Officer candidates and were audience members for performances from several FFA talent teams.

Mount Pleasant High School junior, Lincoln Ellis, represented MPHS FFA as a district officer candidate delivering a speech about inspiration and taking chances. He was elected to serve as the 2022-2023 Paris District FFA Secretary.

Mount Pleasant High School junior, Ethan Easley, represented Mount Pleasant FFA as an area officer candidate delivering a speech with a Hokie Pokie theme about being involved in FFA. He was elected to serve as one of two Area officers for the 2022-2023 year. Easley will deliver another speech to the Area VI FFA voting delegation in February to determine the exact officer position he will hold.

MPHS sophomore Lakyn Fortenberry and freshman Christo Escalante competed in the Paris District FFA Talent Contest, where they were awarded 1st place talent team for performing the songs “Neon Moon” by Brooks and Dunn and “You Look So Good In Love” by George Strait. Fortenberry and Escalante will travel to the Area VI FFA Convention in February to perform for a chance to advance to the state level talent contest.
