Mount Pleasant High School’s FBLA chapter had 54 students compete March 8-10 at the State Leadership Conference in Dallas. It was a very successful meet as a record 10 students qualified for Nationals this summer to be held in Baltimore, Maryland.
Students advancing to Nationals and their event include:
Abby Mason – 1st in Healthcare Administration
Matthew Armstrong – 1st in Journalism
Harper Davis – 3rd in Journalism
Joshua Menhennett – 4th in Computer Applications
Sanum Shahid, Cessia Gonzalez and Jose Liera – 4th in Banking and Financial Systems
Abigail Amerson, Payton Tyler and Zannah Hutchings – 4th in Hospitality Management
Other students who were recognized at the conference include:
Averie Ayers – 3rd in Business Etiquette — a Texas only contest
Joshua Harris – 5th in Agribusiness
Maritza Zambrano and Blanca Antolin – 5th in Public Service Announcement
Eric Vasquez as Who’s Who for MPHS
“Mount Pleasant High School was also recognized as having the largest chapter in the area,” said FBLA sponsor and Journalism teacher John Whitten. “Also for the first time in school history, MPHS has a state officer in FBLA. Matthew Armstrong was elected Area VI Vice President and will represent East Texas at Nationals and throughout the next school year.”
“We congratulate these students for their achievements at the FBLA state convention and, for those advancing to the National Competition, we wish them continued success,” said Dr. Judith Saxton, MPISD’s Director of Communications. “This is the largest group of students that MPHS has sent to an FBLA National Conference. We know both they and their teachers have worked very hard to advance this far. Representing MPISD and the entire State of Texas at the National level is an accomplishment of which they should be very proud.”
