Seventeen Mount Pleasant Junior High School art students entered 18 pieces in the Region 8 Junior Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) competition on Saturday, March 14 at Redwater Junior High. Of the 18 pieces entered, 14 received division 1 medals. And one MPJH student was chosen the overall winner.

Eighth grader Mariangel Mora’s entry was chosen as the overall winner for the entire area. Division 1 medalists include Jaylee Avilez, Jouselyn Bello, Mia Carrillo, Laney Craddock, Kashayla Dawson, Jaqueline Garcia, Rafael Garcia, Zaylin Madora, Juliana Mendoza, Stephanie Mendoza, Mariangel Mora, Joscelin Moreno, JC Moss, and Autumn Sharp. Also participating were Jannahi Castro, Nathaly Medrano, and Samantha Sierra.

The MPJH art program is under the direction of Blanca Hernandez.
