Members of the MPISD Winter Guards closed out the season at the Four States Performing Arts Association Solo and Ensemble Championships at on Saturday, April 18 at Tyler Junior College. Nineteen MPISD students from Mount Pleasant Junior High and Mount Pleasant High School competed with their solos and duets with fourteen placing in the top six.

In Youth Duet, Nicholai Crabtree and Kaitlenn Washington placed 1st with Grecia Molina and Jaretzy Villeda coming in 2nd.

In the Youth Solo division, Mount Pleasant Junior High students took five of the top six spots. Placing first was Florencia Moreno followed by Kenly Moreno in 2nd, Crabtree 3rd, and Esmeralda Guerrero and Washington tied for 5th.

In junior solos, Gavin Hays placed 1st out of twelve competitors in 9th and 10th grades.

In Senior I solos, Karen Mata placed 4th with Karyme Sanchez tied for 6th among 11th graders.

And in Senior II solos, Esmeralda Perez was 2nd with Sofia Estrada 5th among 12th graders.

The MPISD Colorguards recently completed tryouts for the 2026-2027 season. They are under the direction of Marty Newman, Peyton McClendon, and Gracie McClendon.
