Mount Pleasant Junior High School eighth grader, Karli Lowry, has qualified for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo in Guthrie, Ok in June.

Lowry, a member of the MPISD rodeo team, competed against 101 of the top junior high barrel racers in the state at the Texas Junior High Rodeo Association State Finals in Gonzalez, TX on May 24-30. Lowry and horse LWS Blue Freckles (Abby) placed 7th in round one and 6th in round two to secure a spot in the short go finals. In the final round, Lowry and Abby ran a blazing 16.3 second run to win the round and finish as Reserve Champion at the finals. Points earned during these three runs as well as her year end points with TJHRA Region 4 earned her the title of Texas Reserve Champion barrel racer as well as the number two position on the Texas Nationals team.

Lowry will continue her journey at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo in Guthrie, OK on June 18-28 and run for the national champion title. The Mount Pleasant Rodeo Team Advisor is Christi Lowry.
