Future Business Leaders of America students competed in the Area VI FBLA Leadership Conference Wednesday at Region 8 and had a very successful day with 39 students advancing to state! They will compete at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in San Antonio on March 23-25.

Taking first place was Harper Davis in Advertising, the team of Husban Shahid, Sanum Shahid and Juan Liera in Banking and Financial Systems, Averie Ayers in Chapter Reflection, Jamie Adams in Economics, Nuvia Chavez in Future Business Leader, Jaletha Heath in Impromptu Speaking, Grace Whitten in Introduction to Business Communications, Virginia Fuentes in Introduction to Business, Karla Landeros in Journalism, the team of Zack Luker, Steven Mendoza and Sadrian Olvera in Marketing, the team of Matthew Armstrong, Eric Vasquez and Tristan Zuniga in Public Service Announcement, Aslin Barrientos in Public Speaking 1 and Dani Bernal in Public Speaking 2.

Finishing second and advancing to state are Holden Davis in Accounting 1, Brent Garrett in Business Law, the team of Annie Le, Blanca Antolin and Maritza Zambrano in Digital Video Production, the team of Presley Jones, Katelyn Walden and Kendel Thompson in Marketing, the team of Zannah Hutchings, Abigail Amerson and Payton Tyler in Social Media, Uriel Rodriguez in Publication Design, Candanich Lim in Spreadsheet Applications, Caleb Huggins in Web Design and Katelyn Kimbrough in Word Processing.

Third place finishers were the team of Dylan Ingram, Allie Norfleet and Paula Flores in Graphic Design and Connor Reese in Journalism. Daniel Landaverde was fourth in Business Calculations and also advances to state.  Finishing fifth were David Robles in Accounting 1 and Patricia Bazan in job interview.

“I am very proud of our FBLA students and their outstanding results,” Lead  FBLA Advisor John Whitten said. “I am so proud of the hard word, dedication and time they have put in for their events over the past two months. All the work they did in after-school practice paid off at area.  We are now looking forward to improving our performances at state whether it be a production event or a tested area for the state competition,” said Whitten.
