MPHS FBLA Attends State Officer Training Camp
Mount Pleasant High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Vice President, Alessandro Greco, and Middle School Ambassador, Sage Jordan, attended Officer Training (OT) on June 9-13 at Camp Copass in Denton to prepare for the upcoming year. Greco, an incoming MPHS senior, was elected the FBLA State Vice President last school year and Jordan, an incoming MPHS freshman, is serving as the first-ever Middle School Ambassador for the entire state of Texas. Also attending were MPHS FBLA Adviser John Whitten and Middle School Adviser Dana Armstrong.
While at the camp, Greco and Jordan networked with other vice presidents and state officers from across the state. Greco and Jordan participated in ropes courses and outdoor team-building activities, learned how to introduce speakers and how to market and recruit new members to FBLA, planned for the upcoming school year which includes hosting the Fall Area Workshop and Fall Leadership Conference in Mount Pleasant, learned about finances and travels, set statewide goals, and designed a statewide t-shirt and theme for the upcoming year.
Greco presented a speech on Free Enterprise to all state officers and their advisors while Jordan outlined her goals as the first-ever Middle School Ambassador. Whitten, who is the State Advisor for Area 6 and FBLA Board President, presented a workshop on the history of Texas FBLA and its importance.
“The camp was a great learning experience and growth opportunity for Alessandro and Jordan,” Whitten said. “Each student showed a lot of growth throughout the week and gained confidence in their ability to speak in front of people as well as network and collaborate with students and advisers from around the state. Being able to network with fellow state officers and advisers gives Alessandro and Sage the tools necessary to lead FBLA Area 6 and our Middle School students throughout the upcoming school year. We have been fortunate to have strong student leaders in our FBLA chapter over the past few years. I am looking forward to working with Alessandro, Sage, and all our returning and new members to make the 2025-2026 school year a successful one.”
Armstrong said, “Sage and I both grew as leaders during our week at camp. I am extremely proud of her and look forward to the upcoming year.”
MPISD offers FBLA Middle Level at both Wallace Middle School and Mount Pleasant Junior High and FBLA at Mount Pleasant High School. For more information and to join for the upcoming year, contact Whitten or Armstrong.
