All three Mount Pleasant High School Winter Guard teams traveled to Wylie East High School for the North Texas Colorguard Association contest on Saturday, February 22. The MPHS Varsity, JV A, and JV B teams are working toward qualifying for the NTCA Championships later in March.

The Mount Pleasant High School Varsity placed 2nd in the Scholastic A classification, just a little more than a point behind 1st place. JV A placed 7th in the Regional A classification and JV B placed 5th in the Novice classification.

The High School Winter Guard shows are all following an anime theme. The Varsity show is titled “The Journey Home” based on the anime series, One Piece. The JVA show, titled “No Way Out”, is based on Avatar the Last Airbender. And the JVB show is titled “Monster” and is based on the anime series, Naruto.

The Mount Pleasant High School Winter Guards will continue spring competition season close to home on Saturday, March 1 at Paul Pewitt High School. They will also hold a public performance on Friday, March 7 at the Wallace Middle Gym at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00. The High School Guards are under the direction of Marty Newman, assisted by Abbie Phelan, and the Junior Guards are under the direction of Peyton McClendon, assisted by Gracie McClendon.
