Twenty-three members of the Mount Pleasant High School Goin’ Gold Band were named to the Freshman and High School All-Region Bands. MPHS boasted nine 1st chair placements and thirteen have qualified for Area auditions. One member was selected for both the freshman and high school band, and one Mount Pleasant Junior High 8th grader was a 1st chair placement in the high school All-Region band, making him ineligible to participate in Area auditions due to his age.

Advancing to Area auditions are Dylan Cigarroa (Tuba, 3rd chair), Bruno DeLeon (Euphonium, 1st chair), Angel Farias (Euphonium, 3rd chair), Sandy Farias (French Horn, 3rd chair), Bryan Garcia (Flute, 1st chair), Nancy Gil (Bb Clarinet, 4th chair), Isaac Jetton (French Horn, 4th chair), William Lashley (8th grader—Tuba, 1st chair), Makayla Mather (E flat Clarinet, 1st chair), Odalys Mejia (Bb Clarinet, 2nd chair), Jose Olivares (Tenor Sax, 1st chair), Cindy Valle (Bb Clarinet, 1st chair), and Evelyn Whisenhunt (Flute, 4th chair).

Also selected for the High School All-Region Band were Ana’liece Guerrero (Bb clarinet, 18th chair), Julian Chancellor (Alto Saxophone, 4th chair), Cielo Lopez (Bass Clarinet, 3rd chair), Jesus Mata (Euphonium, 5th chair), and Aaron Robles (Alto Saxophone, 5th chair).

And those selected for the Freshman All-Region Band include Jimena Aguado (Bass Clarinet, 1st chair), Monica Gutierrez (Percussion, 7th chair), Joshua Pantoja (Bb Clarinet, 5th chair), Efrain Ramos (Bass Clarinet, 2nd chair), Aaron Robles (Alto Saxophone, 1st chair & Baritone Saxophone 1st chair), and Dax Weatherly (Tenor Sax, 2nd chair).

The high school members will participate in the All-Region clinic and concert on January 24-25 in the Mount Pleasant High School Performing Arts Complex. Area auditions will take place on January 10 at Plano Senior High School. The bands are directed by Dr. Theodus Luckett III, Karen Luckett, Agustin Garcia, Chris Richard, Brian Bass, and Larry Lashley.
