Mount Pleasant basketball talent continues to be showcased across East Texas as seniors Autumn Jackson and Zaveion Chism-Okoh have been selected to participate in the Hoops for Autism All-Star Game. The games will be played at Spring Hill High School on Saturday, March 27 with the girls tipping off at 5:30 PM and the boys at 7:00 PM.
Jackson helped lead the Lady Tigers to a district championship leading the team in rebounding at 5.6 per game and finished second on the team in scoring (7.8) and steals (2.9). She was selected First Team All-District this season. “It’s an honor to be selected to this All-Star game, ” said Jackson. “I really look forward to playing again and representing Mount Pleasant well.” Chism-Okoh was the leading scorer for a Tiger team that put up one of the best seasons in school history finishing 27-1 and advancing to the regional semi-finals for the second straight season. Chism-Okoh averaged 16.2 points per game and will be attending Link Year Prep next season. He was also selected District Co-MVP and All-Region.
The games will match a North and South team with the rosters being filled by players across East Texas. Schools being represented along with Mount Pleasant are Union Grove, Spring Hill, Gladewater, Sabine, Frankston, Gilmer, Hallsville, Saltillo, Hooks, Marshall, Sulphur Springs, Atlanta, Pleasant Grove, Carthage, Gary, Kilgore, Mabank, Lindale, John Tyler, Henderson, Cumberland, Carlisle, Mineola, Tyler Legacy, Winnsboro, Martin’s Mill, and Brownsboro.
Tickets will be sold at the door by donation. All proceeds will go to benefit the Center for Autism in Dallas.
