The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers sent three lifters to the state meet last weekend held in Corpus Christi. Seniors Ashlynn Brooks and Jalissa Alvarez along with sophomore Nayeli Jaimes all qualified for the meet with their top finishes in the regional meet a couple of weeks ago.

Brooks finished fourth in her weight class by posting a season best 310-lb squat, a season high 150-lb bench press, and 300-lb deadlift for a total of 760 lbs, her best finish all year. Alvarez finished sixth in her weight class with a 315-lb squat, a season best 160-lb bench press, and 320-lb deadlift for a season high total of 795 lbs. Jaimes was unable to complete and of her lifts and had to bow out of the competition. Brooks fourth place finish at state was the best finish by a Lady Tiger lifter under head coach Donald Woods.
