Mount Pleasant Junior High and High School FFA members attended the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo starting on February 5. MPHS FFA members brought home a number of ribbons and awards including a Grand Champion, a Reserve Champion, and a 1st in Class.

In the Breeding Sheep Show, Mount Pleasant Junior High 7th grader, Case Rodgers, was named both Grand Champion Suffolk Ram and Reserve Champion Suffolk Ewe. Sophomore Karlee Rodgers placed 6th with her Hampshire Ewe. Freshman Rebecca Dunn earned 6th place with her Hampshire Ewe in a class of 62. And senior Reese Hill was 6th in the Junior Breeding Show with her Suffolk Ewe and Aged Ewe and 2nd in the Open Show with her Suffolk Ewe and Aged Ewe.

In the Market Lamb Show, Dunn won her class and made it to the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo Premium Sale on February 22, a major accomplishment to make this sale.

In the Breeding Gilt category, sophomore Gunner Rodgers was 6th in his class out of 34 with his Duroc Gilt.

And in the Breeding Heifer Show, senior Leah Schmitt placed 6th out of 16 in her class while Dunn was 8th out of 17 in her class with their Angus Heifers.

MPHS FFA members will show again at the Houston Livestock Show starting February 27. MPHS FFA advisors are Susie Hearron, Blake Denson, Mike Huff, and Rance White.
