The Mount Pleasant Tiger swim team competed in their district meet last Saturday held at Texarkana College and qualified six swimmers to compete at the regional meet in February. Senior and state hopeful Ryan Sharp was the district champ in the 100m backstroke and finished second in the 100m butterfly. Senior Makayla Houchin placed third in the 100m butterfly, freshman Sophie Greco placed third in the 100m backstroke and senior Isabella Greco finished fourth in the 100m freestyle. Hannah Anderson finished fifth in the girls 50m freestyle and sixth in the 100m freestyle but was able to advance due to another swimmer dropping out. The Lady Tigers had two relay teams qualify for regionals with the team of Anderson, Houchin, Greco, and Greco competing in the 200m Medley and the team of Anderson, Greco, Greco, and Reese Ball competing in the 100m Freestyle.

The UIL Regional Meet will be held in The Colony on Saturday, February 6. The preliminaries and finals will be held on a one-day schedule whereas in the past they have been held on separate days. The state meet will be held in San Antonio with the girls competing on Feb 19-20 and the boys on Feb 26-27.
