Mount Pleasant High School senior football players, Alberto Avila, Carter Cook, and Keith Standefer have been named to the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State football teams. Avila and Cook were named to the 1st team with Standefer garnering Honorable Mention honors.

Nominees must be senior athletes, student trainers, or managers in good standing with the team and of good moral character and must have an overall GPA of at least 92. When reviewing the nominations, the THSCA considers each students’ GPA, class rank, SAT and/or ACT score and students receive points based on each criterion.

Avila is the son of Martin and Yolanda Avila. Cook is the son of Dustin and Jamie Cook. Standefer is the son of Brandon and Karen Standefer. They were nominated for the honor by MPISD Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Joey Cluley.
