Tiger Powerlifting was back in action this past Saturday at Texas High.  The Lady Tigers brought home a total of 6 medals and a 3rd place finish out of 14 teams.  The Tigers brought home a total of 5 medals and placed 7th out of 19 teams overall.

Saturday brought with it a cold snap as temperatures plummeted to below freezing throughout the day, but our Tiger and Lady Tiger teams heated up the iron as they improved their medal totals from the previous week and the Lady Tigers erupted into the top 3 for the first time this season.

This season has seen the Tiger Team expand to 22 competitive lifters while the Lady Tigers have increased to 11. Many of these lifters did not compete in the Lindale Meet, while some of the Lindale lifters took a week off.

David Nava placed 4th in the 132 class,
Antonio Landaverde placed 5th in the 148 class,
Alex Vaseleck placed 10th in the 148 class,
Nicholas Ramirez placed 15th in the 148 class,
Daniel Bautista placed 6th in the 181 class,
Angel Perez placed 16th in the 181 class,
Astin Ledbetter placed 10th in the 198 class,
Elias Elizondo placed 16th in the 220 class,
Joel Guerrero placed 3rd in the 242 class,
Jashon Pogue placed 2nd in the 275 and
Tyler Welborn placed 5th in the SHW..

Paula Flores placed 10th,
Jalissa Alvarez placed 2nd,
Sophy Turner placed 5th,
Shantel Harmon placed 1st

New Lady Tiger lifters this week:
Aslin Barrientos (Sr.) and Sophy Turner (Jr.).

All Tiger and Lady Tiger lifters will be competing this Saturday Jan. 26th in our Tiger Iron home meet. The lifting will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Jr. High Main Gym. There will be lots of food, lifting and t-shirts.
