The Mount Pleasant High School Powerlifters continued their season on Friday, January 30 in the MPJH Gym. The Tigers closed out the night with a 1st place finish as a team with the Lady Tigers placing 4th. Thirty MPHS lifters placed in the top 5 within their respective weight classes, almost doubling the number of medals from the previous meet.

For the Tigers 1st place medalists in their respective weight divisions include Daniel Castillo, Bruno DeLeon, José Gonzalez, and Abraham Buenrostro. Placing 2nd were Edward Moya, Humberto Damian, Isaiah Shepherd, Bryson Taylor, and Zac Newman. 3rd place medalists were Diego Hernandez and David Neal. Earning 4th place medals were Angel Palacios, Dakota Williams, and Cesar Netro. And rounding out the medalists in 5th place were Caleb Lopez, Christian Martinez, JP Lopez, and Christopher Garcia.

The Lady Tigers had twelve medalists. In 2nd place in their respective weight classes were Allison Lopez, Valerie Cassio, Linnet Cuellar, and Helen Munoz. Placing 3rd were Diana Ramirez, Monse Gonzalez, Kace Moreno, and Alheli Ramirez. Finishing out the medals in 5th place were Jasmine Diaz Patino, Cambria Malone, Viridiana Dominguez, Abiela Baltazar.

The JV and Varsity teams will continue their season in hopes of qualifying for regionals on February 5 and 7 in Paris. MPHS Powerlifting is coached by Don Woods and Blake Lodes.
