The Mount Pleasant High School Powerlifters continued their season on Friday, January 24 at their home meet held at Mount Pleasant Junior High. The Tigers finished in 2nd place as a team for the second meet in a row with the Lady Tigers placing 4th. The Tigers boasted 12 medalists, and the Lady Tigers had 11, earning points for their teams and medals as individuals.

For the Tigers, Luis Alvarado, Jose Gonzalez, and Juymil Lewis all placed 1st in their weight classes, earning their second meet championships. Bruno De Leon improved from the prior meet earning 1st place in his weight class. Alex Perez also improved from the prior meet earning 2nd place in his weight class with Devon Burtness and Keylan Fields also winning 2nd place medals. Placing 3rd in his weight class was Bryson Taylor. Seth Robertson moved up one place from the prior meet earning a 4th place medal with Isaac Hernandez also placing 4th in his weight class. And Humberto Damian and Abraham Santana rounded out the medals for the Tigers in 5th place.

Lady Tiger 2nd place medalists in their respective weight classes include Karen Hernandez and Jasmine Landaverde. Taking home 3rd place medals in their respective weight classes were Valerie Colocho, Linnet Cuellar, and Valerie Cassio, an improvement over her prior meet performance. Placing 4th for the Lady Tigers were Monserrat Gonzalez, Diana Ramirez, Helen Salazar, and Xitlaly Sanchez in their weight classes. And the final medals for the Lady Tigers went to Sidney Harbour and Alaya Organista in 5th place in their respective weight classes.

The JV Tigers will be in action on Thursday, January 30 with the JV Lady Tigers taking the mat on Saturday, February 1, both in Paris. MPHS Powerlifting is coached by Don Woods and Blake Lodes.
