Six percussionists in the Mount Pleasant High School Goin’ Gold Band have been chosen to compete at the Percussive Arts Society International Conference (PASIC) in Indianapolis on November 11-14. Only twenty percussion ensembles were chosen from across the United States.

“It’s a rare and extremely exciting opportunity for them,” said Percussion Director, Brian Bass. “They will compete by performing music against the other 20 high school ensembles in attendance. If they win, they will be asked to perform again at the end of the convention with the winner from the college competition. They will also attend concerts, clinics, and an extensive exhibit hall with anyone and everyone who is in the percussion world.”

The Percussive Arts Society (PAS) is the world’s largest percussion organization and is considered the central source for information and networking for percussionists and drummers of all ages. Established in 1961 as a non-profit, music service organization, PAS works to fulfill its mission to inspire, educate, and support percussionists and drummers worldwide. Today, PAS has nearly 6,000 members, with chapters representing all 50 states, and an additional 25 international chapters.
