MPHS Lady Tiger Powerlifters Qualify for Regionals
After six meets, the Mount Pleasant High School Lady Tiger Powerlifting team has qualified 12 lifters for the Regional meet with 1 additional lifter named an alternate. MPHS competes in Region 3 Division 1 which encompasses all 5A and 6A high schools in the Northeast Texas area. To qualify for the Regional meet, a lifter must be in the top 12 in their weight class, reach the automatic total for their weight class, or be the one of the top 2 lifters in 5A.
Qualifying for the Regional meet are senior and 2022 5A State Champion Nayeli Jaimes, senior and 2022 State Finalist Alexandra Martinez, senior and 2022 Regional Finalist Jenna Cook, junior and 2022 Regional Finalist Araceli Landaverde, junior and 2022 Regional Finalist McKinsee Oviedo, sophomore and 2022 Regional Finalist Jasmine Landaverde, senior Audrie Mendoza, juniors Saniya Milton and Zoe Zittel, and sophomores Dori Macedo, Xitlaly Sanchez and Karen Hernandez. Regional alternate is junior and 2022 Regional Finalist Jordan West.
The Regional Meet is March 2 at Pine Tree High School. MPHS Powerlifting is coached by Don Woods and Drew Barnard.
