Eleven members of the Mount Pleasant High School Goin’ Gold Band were named to the High School All-Region Band and five freshmen were selected for the Freshman All-Region Band after virtual auditions at the end of December. Five have qualified for Area auditions.

Advancing to Area auditions are Karli Hill (1st chair Piccolo), Manoa Bagsic (2nd chair Clarinet) Jordi Bello (2nd chair Tuba), Madison Carpenter (3rd chair Trumpet), and Nia Jackson (4th chair Clarinet).

Also selected for the High School All-Region Band were Aachal Amin (1st chair Flute), Altizel Mendoza (4th chair Flute), Abril Ramirez (1st chair Clarinet), Hannah Bowles (2nd chair Bass Clarinet), Pablo Mata (2nd chair Tenor Saxophone), and Joel Palacios (10th chair Trumpet).

Goin’ Gold Band members selected for the Freshman All-Region band include Jose Fuentes (1st chair Clarinet), Joel Palacios (4th chair Trumpet), Oscar Castellanos (4th chair Trombone), Orion Senence (7th chair Trumpet), and Alex Castro (11th chair Trumpet).

“I’m extremely proud of these students,” said MPHS Head Band Director and Director of Fine Arts, Dr. Theodus Luckett III. “COVID-19 has presented many challenges as the audition was done virtually. Because of the social distancing requirements, providing effective instruction was difficult. However, our students worked hard and I am very proud of them.”

Advancing students are recording their pieces and uploading them for the Area competition this week.
