MPHS Fashion Design Students Win Ribbons at the Titus County Fair
Mount Pleasant High School Fashion Design II and III students entered numerous pieces in the Creative Arts event at the Titus County Fair, 14 of which earned ribbons. The awards included three Sweepstakes, four Best of Show, and one Best in Class ribbons.
Three seniors won 1st place, Best in Class, Best in Show, and Sweepstakes ribbons for their creations. Colt Covey and Helen Munoz won Sweepstakes in the Garment Construction category, and Margarita Sauceda was a Sweepstakes winner in Hand Embroidery.
Four seniors earned 1st place, Best in Class, and Best in Show ribbons for their pieces. Anny Delgadillo and Emily Ortiz both earned Best in Show for their Hand Embroidery creations. Yvette Cervantes earned a Best in Show placement for her Applique. And Melani Soriano won Best in Show in Garment Construction.
Winning 1st place and Best in Class ribbons was senior Bella Reyes for her Hand Embroidery piece.
Placing 1st in her division was senior Dayanara Pulquero with her Garment Construction piece.
Placing 2nd in her division was junior Ale Hernandez for her Hand Embroidery piece.
And earning 3rd place ribbons were seniors Valeria Flores and Brenda Ramirez, and juniors Bryan Garcia and Marley Rotuno, all for their Hand Embroidery work.
MPHS offers a 4-year program in Fashion Design, and the program holds a Fashion Show at the end of the year showcasing the students’ work. The MPHS Fashion Design instructor is Margaret Bradley.
