MPHS Choir Members Medal at UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest
Nine members of the Mount Pleasant High School Choir competed at the UIL State Choir Solo and Ensemble Contest at Barton Middle School in Hays CISD just outside Austin on May 25. Four earned state silver medals for their vocal performances.
Earning silver medals were 2026 graduates Emi Hobbs with “Orpheus With His Lute” by Schuman, and Mattie Merriman with “Bonjour, Suzon!” by Delibes, and rising seniors Trista Madrid-Erwin with “Bonjour, Suzon!” by Delibes, and Lenayha Edney with “Se Tu M’ami, Se Sospiri” by Parisotti. MPHS state solo qualifiers included 2026 graduates Aaliyah Gholston and Peyton Robinson, and rising seniors Itzel Bello, Elizabeth Liera, and Sara Vanhoose.
The MPHS Choir is directed by Nancy Vines, assisted by Joshua Miles, with accompaniment provided by Deanna Warren and Susan Prewitt.
