Five Mount Pleasant High School Choir members competed at the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest held on May 25 and 27 in and around the Austin area.

Earning a division 1 and a state gold medal was Class of 2024 graduate, Clayton Miller, for his performance of “Rolling Down to Rio”. Earning state silver medals for their solos were Class of 2024 graduate, Hope Powell, for her solo, “Per la gloria dadorarvi”, junior Alivia Newman for her solo, “Sure On This Shining Night”, and sophomore, Mattie Merriman, for her performance of “Animal Crackers”. Sophomore, Emileigh Hobbs, earned a division 3 for her solo, “Silent Noon”.

The Mount Pleasant High School choir is directed by Nancy Vines and accompanied by Deanna Warren.
