The Mount Pleasant High School Fishing Team opened their season in the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament on Lake Fork on October 3. In THSBA tournaments, each high school team is in a boat captained by an adult. MPHS competes in the Northeast division of the THSBA.
The top finishers for MPHS were the team of seniors Mya Clark and Makayla Houchin (boat Captain Terry Gibson) placing 20th out of 95 teams with 5 fish weighing 4.83 pounds.
The team of freshmen Cody Slone and Clayton Miller (boat Captain Bobby Slone) placed 32nd with four fish weighing in at 4.18 pounds. The team of seniors Bryce Bartlett and Ethan Cota (boat Captain Randy Hinton) came in 47th with three fish weighing 3.45 pounds. And rounding out the MPHS competitors were seniors Zane Phillips and Tyler Welborn (boat Captain Jeff Brown) in 55th place with one fish weighing 1.83 pounds.
The team will compete again on October 24 on Lake Palestine.
