Lady Tiger Softball Results – 2/12-2/17

 

The Lady Tigers’ Varsity softball team started off the 2024 season with a perfect week, racking up six wins including an undefeated slate in the Forney Tournament.  MP kicked off the season on Tuesday (Feb. 13) with a 12-3 road win over Lindale.  During the Forney Tournament, the Lady Tigers defeated Van (6-2), Granbury (8-1), New Diana (5-4), Richardson (14-2) and Midlothian Heritage (4-0).

 

MP 12, Lindale 3

Seniors Ella Cross and Amariya Miller led the offensive attack for the Lady Tigers.  Cross and Miller finished the game with three hits each and three RBIs apiece.  Lakyn Fortenberry and Kelsey Howard had a pair of singles each in the game.  Howard scored three times.  Morgan Hill had a hit and a pair of walks, while Azzy Fluellen had a hit, two walks and scored twice.  Kaylin Brannon scored twice and Kaylee Silman finished with a pair of free passes and two RBI.

Jordan Batchelor picked up the win in the circle, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out seven in five innings of work.  Casey Jones finished the final two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and fanning two.

 

MP 6, Van 2

The Lady Tigers erased a 1-0 deficit with a pair of runs in the top of fourth.  Van rallied to tie the game at 2-2 until MP scored four unanswered runs in the top of fifth en route to a 6-2 win in the opening game of the Forney Tournament.

Cross led the Lady Tigers at the plate with a pair of hits and a run.  Miller and Jones each had a hit, a double and single respectively and plated a two RBIs each.  Howard singled and scored twice, while Silman and Batchelor each had a hit.

Conlee Zachry went the distance in the circle, throwing six full innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five.

 

MP 8, Granbury 1

MP jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and added three runs in the fourth to pull away with a 8-1 victory. 

The Lady Tigers finished with 10 hits in the game with Hill leading the way with three singles.  Cross added a pair of hits including a home run and three RBIs.  Brannon tripled, singled, scored twice and had two runs.

Batchelor picked up the win in the circle, allowing one run on two hits and fanning five.

 

MP 5, New Diana 4

The Lady Tigers rallied from a 4-1 deficit in their last at bat to walk off a 5-4 win over New Diana.  With one out, the Lady Tigers put together four straight hits.  Miller singled, Batchelor doubled, Howard singled and Fluellen tripled.  Cross slapped a hard ball off the short stop to score Fluellen for the comeback win.

Fluellen led the charge with two hits, two runs and a RBI.  Batchelor finished with two hits while Cross, Hill, Zachry, Miller and Howard each had a hit.

Batchelor picked up the win in relief, going two innings, allowing no runs on no hits.  Zachry started the game and pitched four innings, allowing four hits and four runs.

 

MP 14, Richardson 2

The Lady Tigers carried the momentum of their walk off win into their first at bat against Richardson, scoring 10 runs.  Cross, Silman and Batchelor had two hits apiece.  Cross tripled, scored twice and had three RBI.  Along with the two hits, Silman walked, scored three times and had one RBI.  Batchelor tripled and plated two runs.  Hill and Howard both tripled in the game.   Fluellen singled and pushed across two runs.  Bianca Garcia walked and scored a run in the game.

Jones went the complete game in the circle, allowing two runs on two hits and struck out two.

 

MP 4, Midlothian Heritage 0

The Lady Tigers concluded their play of the Forney Tournament with a 4-0 shutout of Midlothian Heritage.

Batchelor pitched a three-hit shutout while going the complete game, striking out six.  The Lady Tigers played really well on defense behind Batchelor, as MP worked out of several jams to keep the shut out intake.

Offensively, the Lady Tigers scored on some timely hitting  and was able to double up their opponent.  Fortenberry led MP with two hits and scored a run.  Cross singled, scored once and had a RBI.  Zachry, Hill and Batchelor each had a hit, while Batchelor and Silman both had a RBI apiece.

 

The Lady Tigers host Pleasant Grove Tuesday, February 20 at 6:00 pm at Lady Tiger Field.  MP will play in their own home tournament beginning Thursday-Saturday.
