With multiple UIL competitions occurring at the same time last weekend, Mount Pleasant’s lone competitor at the Grace Fall Invitational swim meet in Tyler was freshman Ava Fite. In her first high school competition, Fite did not disappoint placing 6th in both races she competed in.

Fite began her day with 100-yd backstroke where she finished 6th out of 18 competitors. Following a quick turnaround due to only one race between the backstroke and the breaststroke, Fite jumped right back in the water to take 6th again in the 100-yd breaststroke. A slim 1.76 second gap was all that was left between her and 4th place, an impressive feat considering the minimal rest time between races.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers will be back to full strength for their next meet scheduled for November 17-19. The Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Associational Meet will be held at the TISD Aquatic Center in Texarkana. The Mount Pleasant swim team is coached by Jerilyn Goolsby.
