MPHS Anglers Open Spring Season on Lake Bob Sandlin
The Mount Pleasant High School Bass Fishing Team continued the regular season after a winter break at the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournament on Lake Bob Sandlin on Saturday, March 7. MPHS had nine boats competing with five of those reeling in catches.
First for the Tigers, the team of Joseph Bell and Logan Holderness finished in 21st place out of 155 boats with 5 fish weighing 13.51 lbs. Kamen and Khloe Dunn finished 49th with 5 fish weighing 10.22 lbs. The team of Gunner and Case Rodgers placed 84th with 3 fish weighing 5.27 lbs. Macon Bailey and Brian Derrick came in 104th with 1 fish weighing 2.68 lbs. And Donald Cole and Xavier Enciso were just behind in 105th with 1 fish weighing 2.53 lbs. Also competing for the Tigers were Brody Clay, Brady Cook and Hunter Wills, Garrett Brown and Lance Albin, and Major McCoo.
The teams have one more tournament to qualify for regionals based on their placements during the regular season. The Nautical Mile Marine Regional is scheduled for May 2 at Lake O’ the Pines where anglers will be fishing to qualify for the state tournament at the end of May.
