Wallace Middle School competed at the District 15-5A UIL Academic Meet Saturday, February 21 at Hallsville. The schools competing were: Foster Middle School (Longview), Greenville Middle School, Hallsville Jr. High, Judson Middle School (Longview), Pine Tree Middle School, Sam Houston Middle School (Marshall), Sulphur Springs Middle School, Texas Middle School (Texarkana) and P.E. Wallace Middle School.

The Chess Puzzles Team (Cristian Cespedes, Jacob Bristow and Oscar Sanchez), Map, Charts and Graphs Team (Nicholas Segovia, Brock Shavers and Gavin Rider) and the Music Memory Team (Taryn Thurman, Jalissa Alvarez, Emily Santos, Joshlyn Paloblanco, and Sashi Poudel) all won their team competitions. The Music Memory team had four students tie for 1st. This is the ninth year in a row that the Music Memory Team has won their team competition at District.

The Listening Skills Team (Lily Burrows, Faith Logan, Jaycee Woods) took 3rd place.

“I am proud of the accomplishments of our students,” said Wallace Principal Todd Daniel. “This in one of the largest UIL Academic meets we have ever competed in. Our students and our teachers worked hard getting ready for this competition. I congratulate them all.”

Prose Speaking: Gavin Fife-6th.

Social Studies: Brock Shavers-5th.

Spelling: Brady Sisk-6th.
