MPISD Police Officer Nataly Marino was recognized by the MPISD School Board at the November 14 meeting with an Above and Beyond Award.

Marina was recognized for her quick reaction to a choking episode in the Mt. Pleasant High School cafeteria earlier this month. When told that a male student was choking, Marino raced across the cafeteria and performed the Heimlich maneuver on the student, who was much larger than her, potentially saving his life.

Marino usually works on the MPISD Elementary campuses. This was her first day working alone on the High School campus.
