MPISD Destination Imagination Teams Advance to Global Finals
Mount Pleasant ISD Destination Imagination (DI) continued their award-winning year as eight MPISD teams competed against 500 teams at Lonestar Finals, the largest single day Destination Imagination Tournament in the world, on Saturday, April 10 at the University of Texas at Arlington where two MPISD teams learned they would advance to Global Finals this summer.
The Hardworking Massive Pandas from P.E. Wallace Middle School competed in elementary level Engineering. They earned a cherished Renaissance award for a beautiful backdrop and advanced to Global Finals. The team consists of Jakeb Aguilar, Giovanni Contreras, Gian Gutierrez, Jacob Hernandez, Alan Perez, Ariana Ramirez, and Sophia Robertson.
The Flying Cattapig Dumplings, a combined team from Wallace and Mount Pleasant Junior High, competed in middle level Engineering and advanced to Global Finals. The team consists of Kinlee Castro, Kate Cluley, Jake Jones, Sam Jones, Annalie Mata, and Mailen Tapia. In addition, this team, with the addition of Callie Dimon, earned 2nd place in State in the eXtreme event.
The DI Global Finals will be May 21-24 in Kansas City, MO. They are coached by Jamie King. Team managers include Elda Hernandez, Tommie Kay Castro, Jack Jones, and Melissa Jones.
