MPISD Administration met this week concerning end-of-the-year activities and ceremonies. Using input from state and local officials, the statuses of those activities are as follows:

GraduationBased on information presented today by Governor Abbott and Education Commissioner Mike Morath, MPISD will hold graduation Friday, June 5 at 8:00 p.m. at Sam Parker Stadium.

Graduates will be allowed a maximum of 6 guests due to social distancing requirements and 25% capacity of the stadium. Entry for guests will be permitted by ticket only. The ceremony will be live streamed on Facebook. We are not allowed to hold a rehearsal prior to graduation. More details about graduation will be coming out soon.

The 2020 MPHS Prom has been cancelled. Due to social distancing requirements and 25% building capacity rules, we will not be able to hold the prom this year. In addition, the Education Commissioner has mandated that “graduates or promoting students may only be brought together for one event per class”. Since we are holding an in-person graduation, that will count as our one event.

Project Graduation and Baccalaureate have been cancelled. Due to social distancing requirements and 25% building capacity rules, we will not be able to hold either of those events this year.

The Honor Graduate dinner has been cancelled. Honor graduates will be recognized individually on the MPHS Facebook page.

Academic Blankets will be given out individually. The date and details will be announced once we receive the blankets.
