Congratulations to 2017 Mount Pleasant High School graduates Daniel Hernandez and Husban Shahid who were selected as Texas Interscholastic League Foundation (TIFL) scholarship recipients.
Daniel Hernandez received the Houston Endowment, Inc. Scholarship for $1,000. He is attending Northeast Texas Community College studying Civil Engineering.
Husban Shahid, the 2017 MPHS Valedictorian, received The Welch Foundation Scholarship for $14,000. He is attending the University of Texas at Dallas studying Pre-Dentistry.
In making the announcement, TIFL officials said, “Our thanks go out to you and your UIL coaches and coordinators for supporting learning through rigorous academic competition. Without your dedication and encouragement, these students wouldn’t have come so far.”
TILF provides scholarships to students who excel in UIL academic and music contests. TILF awarded 260 new and 211 continuing scholarships this year totaling more than $1 million.
