MPHS Freshman Advances to Nationals

Mount Pleasant High School Freshman Ryan Sharp has qualified for the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament in Humorous Interpretation. Ryan, the son of Robin and Janet Sharp, is only the second student in school history and the only freshman to qualify this year. Nationals will be in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in June.

Two other MPHS students earned accolades at National Speech and Debate Associations National Qualifying tournament at Trinity Valley Community College on Friday, February 23. Seth Robertson, the son of Shelli Robertson is the 1st alternate in Humorous Interpretation. Taryn Thurman, the daughter of Tris and Stephanie Thurman, and Sharp are Alternates to Nationals in Policy Debate.
