Pediatric dentist Dr. Kenneth C. Thompson has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the Mt. Pleasant Board of Trustees created by the resignation of board member Lee Miche who has moved out of state. Dr. Thompson was sworn in at the December 12 meeting of the MPISD Board.

“I feel honored and am very excited about the opportunity to serve the MPISD faculty, staff and students,” said Dr. Thompson. “I also feel that the current board has done an excellent job in setting a high standard for education in our community. I hope to continue this excellence. The children of our district deserve the very best.”

A native of Sulphur Springs, Dr. Thompson has been practicing in Mt. Pleasant for almost 15 years. He attended Texas Tech University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, then attended Baylor College of Dentistry where he graduated with honors.

Thompson then completed an additional two year Pediatric dental residency at Children’s Medical Center and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas. He obtained his specialty degree in June of 2002 and started his practice in August of that year.

He and his wife, Delann, have been married for 20 years and have four children, all of whom are students at MPISD. Kendel is a Senior at MPHS, Kaleb is a freshman at MPHS, Keller is in 7th grade at the Junior High and Katherine (Kit) is in 4th grade at E.C. Brice Elementary. Dr. Thompson enjoys all outdoor activities and helping out in the community during his free time.
