MPISD welcomes Sandra Cortez into the role of Assistant Principal at E.C. Brice Elementary School for the 2021-2022 school year!

Cortez began her teaching career fifteen years ago as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher in Manizales, Colombia. She later moved to Clinton, North Carolina where she worked for five years as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher at Butler Avenue School where she was a nominee for the International Educator of the Year Award in 2012 and awarded the Global Educator of the Year Award in 2013. Cortez moved back to her home country in 2013 where she had the opportunity to work in her Alma mater as a university professor. In 2015, she and her family moved to the Great State of Texas where she has worked as a Second Grade Dual Language Teacher at E.C. Brice Elementary School where she was named Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year.
