The 2nd annual Titus Regional Medical Center Tiger Town Tournament will be held this weekend at Willie Williams Gym on the campus of Mount Pleasant High School. The tournament will feature 15 teams and over 40 games over the course of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Teams in this year’s tournament include several from around the state as well as local East Texas squads. The tournament field includes Mount Pleasant, Wichita Falls, Pine Tree, Naaman Forest, Longview, Birdville, Marshall, De Kalb, Jefferson, Pittsburg, Rains, Kilgore, White Oak, Mount Pleasant JV, and Marshall Christian. Longview is the defending champ from last year’s tournament and will be back to defend their title.

The Mount Pleasant Tigers will kick things off with their first game at 9:30 AM on Thursday morning. They will then play the nightcap at 7:00 PM. Their first game on Friday will be at 12:00 PM and then bracket play will begin that evening. The Mount Pleasant JV is also in this year’s tournament and will play at 12:00 PM and 5:45 PM on Thursday followed by a game at 9:30 AM on Friday.

The tournament is organized by assistant basketball coach Drew Barkley and TRMC’s Community Outreach Coordinator, Seth Alexander. “Ever since Coach Joey Chism and I have been building this program, we’ve wanted to host a holiday tournament. We wanted to bring back that tradition to showcase our school, program, and community,” said Barkley. “It’s a great opportunity to bring people into Mount Pleasant and give our community members a chance to support and invest in what we do as well as give our town a chance to watch some great basketball.” Alexander saw this as an incredible opportunity to support the MPISD school district and Mount Pleasant Athletics as well as draw people into Mount Pleasant. “Our community relies on us to provide extraordinary healthcare. So we wanted a way that we could give back and show people outside our community how great Mount Pleasant is. We love to serve the people that rely on us for their health and well being, ” said Alexander.

Entry fees for the tournament will be $10 per day or $20 for a weekend pass. Games will begin at 9:30 AM on Thursday and Friday, and 9:00 AM on Saturday. The championship games for each division will be at 3:00 PM and 4:30 PM on Saturday.
