Mt. Pleasant Independent School District administrators and School Board members had the opportunity to meet with Texas Education Agency (TEA) Deputy Commissioner A.J. Crabill at Region 8 headquarters last week.

Crabill, Deputy Commissioner of Governance, oversees the School Improvement Division. He visited with the MPISD officials to learn about the significant academic gains the District has made over the past three years, leading to the 16 Academic Distinctions the District earned last year. TEA is interested in the District’s methods to share these best practices with other districts.

“Deputy Commissioner Crabill complimented the District on our academic gains and said that TEA was very interested in what we had done to accomplish them,” said MPISD Superintendent of Schools Judd Marshall.  “They want to share our turn-around story with other districts in the state to show that improvements can be made if a District is committed and is willing to do what is necessary for that to happen.”
