The P.E. Wallace Middle School fifth grade science classes met at Dellwood Park on Friday, October 13.  The students worked with bottle caps, craft sticks, and marshmallows to construct a lever. Then, they were asked to work through specific instruction to apply force and draw conclusions based on their observations.   Christian Johnson is shown writing a reflection of an activity in his field journal. Students also used marshmallow poppers to investigate how force affects motion.

Other stations included using a pulley system, investigating friction using different slides, and investigating how force, motion, gravity and friction are used on a swing set. These activities provided hands-on experiences for students to make real-world connections with their science vocabulary words.
