Lady Tiger soccer player Jaycee Woods and cheerleader Aunesti Brannon recently signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers after high school. The two high school seniors took part in a ceremony where family, friends, coaches, and teammates were able to attend and celebrate their accomplishments.
Woods, a two-year letterman for Mount Pleasant, will attend Louisiana College. She played goalkeeper for the Lady Tigers only conceding three goals in district play and netting 5.5 shutouts to help lead her team to the playoffs. Woods will follow in the footsteps of her sister, Krissa Woods, who is currently a senior midfielder/defender for the Wildcats.
Brannon, a multi-sport athlete, will continue her career as a cheerleader at Southern Methodist University. Brannon competed in volleyball, basketball, and track throughout her high school years ultimately settling in as a captain for the cheer team. She helped lead the Mount Pleasant cheer squad to a final’s appearance at the state cheer meet, a goal the team had not reached in four years. She also advanced to the area round in the long jump this season. Brannon will join an SMU squad looking to rebuild after earning three state national championships in 2016-2018.
Congrats to these ladies on their accomplishments and best of luck in the future as you represent the best of Mount Pleasant High School!
