Scholarships
Scholarships for Sophomores! These scholarships are awarded monthly. Check into this opportunity and see if you are interested.
Seniors,
I am excited to let you know that our first local scholarship opportunity of the year is now available! Our local Titus County Fair sponsors a scholarship each year and will be awarding $10,000 in scholarships for students to further their education at a college, university, or trade school. Please keep reading—–you may be eligible. The four scholarships will be distributed as follows: $3,000 for the male winner and $3,000 for the female winner. They will also award $2,000 each to the 3rd and 4th place winners.
Deadline: Sept. 16 by 3 p.m. to Mrs. Russell (Room B204), but I would really like to get them by Sept. 10 so that I can look over them and make suggestions if necessary.
Amounts: $3,000 and $2,000
If you have participated in the fair through the years, you are eligible to apply. This is not strictly for students who have participated in the livestock show. Other fair participation counts, too. Some examples might be photography contest, creative arts, academic rodeo, ag mechanics, fine arts, bake show, food preservation, and many other things.
The scholarship application is attached to this message. Please be sure that you TYPE the answers into the document. Fill everything out completely. You can type directly into the document and then print.
Be very specific. Be NEAT!!!! It may take you a while to remember all of your fair participation, but be sure that you try to remember as much as possible. Go back to grade school participation in the Academic Rodeo, for example, if you did that. Adding extra pages is a wonderful addition to your application!
Be sure that the photo you attach is a recent, business-like photo, printed in color, on photo paper. Don’t just use a computer to print your photo.
I will be happy to help you with any questions that you may have. I would like to look at your applications and make suggestions so that you can submit a good application.
Selection criteria includes:
- Student’s high school academic record
- Eligibility for college/university admission
- Leadership as demonstrated in school and community activities
- Participation in the Titus County Fair
- Financial Need
- Character
- Future plans
