On Friday the varsity tennis team traveled to Hallsville to compete in a tournament.  There were 12 schools in attendance.  In the mixed doubles A division Dakota Elswick and Jennifer Figueroa representing MPHS finished 1st place.  They played Roberts/Cooley from Henderson and beat them (8-0).  Their next match was against district rivals Aguilar/Hardaway from Greenville and MP came out on top (8-4).  MP moved to the semifinals and had a tough match against Whitehouse.  MP ended up defeating Whitehouse (9-7) and moved on to play Jacksonville.  Mount Pleasant beat Jacksonville 8-3 to win Gold!

In mixed doubles B division the team of Barron Newman and Averie Ayers representing MPHS finished just short of a medal.  The pair played Shoe/Soloman from Henderson and beat them (8-2).  They defeated Greenville and moved on to the semifinals where they met up with Palestine. MP fell to Palestine (6-8) and had to take on  Bullard.  Despite their well fought out match they fell short and lost (6-8).  Newman/Ayers finished in 4th place.
