MPHS Golf Places 2nd at Longview Invitational
The Tigers Varsity golf team competed Monday, February 6 in the Longview Invitational at Pinecrest Country Club. The Tigers brought home 2nd place as a team, just two strokes off 1st place. Bullard shot 314 to win the tournament followed by the Mount Pleasant and Hallsville who tied for 2nd place with 316. The tie was settled by each team’s fifth golfer’s score where Kade Strickland’s 88 beat Hallsville’s 90.
Individually, senior Matthew Peterson finished in 2nd place with a 72 followed by freshman Jacob Baker in 4th place with 76. Senior Clayton Brison shot an 83, junior Braiden Merryman an 85, and senior Kade Strickland an 88. Up next for the Tigers is the regional preview in Rockwall on February 20 and 21. MPHS golf is coached by Benny Blaser.
