MPHS FCCLA Students Advance to State
The Mount Pleasant High School chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) attended the Region III Leadership Conference in Waco on February 5-8. Five members competed in three different events with four advancing to the state level.
Junior, Ashley Garcia, advanced to state, placing 1st in Leadership. Garcia evaluated and analyzed her current leadership and employability skills. She then created a plan to improve those skills through training, education, and career choices.
Sophomores Xo’Najah Henderson, Yadira Guerrero, and Adriana Hipolito advanced to state, placing 3rd in Promote and Publicize FCCLA. The team created an advertising campaign to spread the word about FCCLA at MPHS and the Mount Pleasant community.
Also competing for MPHS, junior Abi Pathak competed in Career Investigation. Pathak researched how to become a Technical Project manager. She took self–assessments, set career goals, and created a plan for achieving them.
Garcia, Henderson, Guerrero, and Hipolito will continue to the State Conference in Dallas on April 11-13. MPHS FCCLA Advisors are Margaret Bradley and Aimee Sweeden.
