Students in Mount Pleasant High School Cosmetology I and II kicked off the new school year with a soft opening on Tuesday, November 11, where invited guests from the MPISD Administration Building, SAFE-T, and the community enjoyed a relaxing day of services. Students provided haircuts, facials, pedicures, gel manicures, and a variety of other services.
The MPHS Cosmetology department will officially open to the public on Tuesday, December 9 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday, January 13. Providing services to the public allows the students to accumulate the number of hours needed toward earning their cosmetology license. Appointments are encouraged and can be made by calling 903-434-8658. A list of services and prices can be viewed on their website at www.mpisd.net/mphs/mphs-cosmetology/.
Mount Pleasant High School offers three years of instruction in Cosmetology starting with an introductory course for sophomores, followed by Cosmetology I and Cosmetology II for juniors and seniors. Students completing the program can graduate with their cosmetology license at the same time as their high school diploma and immediately begin working in the cosmetology field. To learn more about the MPHS Cosmetology program, contact MPHS Career and Technology Director, Jay Silman, or Cosmetology instructor, Aleshia Rivera, at 903-575-2020.
