Sixteen Mount Pleasant High School Choir soloists qualified for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest in Austin on May 24-26. To qualify, a student must have scored a “1” on a Class 1 piece, the most difficult to memorize and perform. Seven MPHS Choir members earned UIL state medals including one gold and six silver.

2025 MPHS graduate, Alivia Newman, earned a state gold medal. Earning state silver medals were 2025 MPHS graduates Danika Beckham and Kristina Tidwell, juniors Emileigh Hobbs and Bella Reyes, and sophomores Trista Madrid-Erwin and Sara Vanhoose.

The MPHS Choir is directed by Nancy Vines, assisted by Joshua Miles, with accompaniment provided by Deanna Warren and Susan Prewitt.
